A batch is for you if…
Your socks, rider jersey, and bib shorts all match, and your mountain bike shoes cost more than your first car.
B batch is for you if…
You’re actually quite fit, but too shy to start in A batch because your kit isn’t colour coordinated.
C batch is for you if…
You were once a fairly competitive athlete, can roll through rock gardens, swerve up switchbacks, and dominate descents, but these days prefer socialising to sweating on a cycle.
D batch is for you if…
You love riding in baggies, pack more into your hydration pack than you do for an overseas holiday, and spend more time pouring pints than poring over your Strava stats.
E batch is for you if…
You’ve put in the training hours and have no fear of what lies ahead, but you’re here for a good time not a fast time.
F batch is for you if…
You entered so long ago that you forgot you were riding Berg & Bush and only remembered a few weeks ago so you’ve done just enough panic training to enjoy the ride at a relaxed pace.
G batch is for you if…
You’re a seasoned rider but this is your first stage race and you don’t want the pressure of getting swept up in an overzealous start alongside riders who should know better.
H batch is for you if…
You don’t like rushing breakfast and want to enjoy numerous coffees before casually swanning over to the latest but not last start batch and riding for 2 or 3 days without breaking into a sweat.
I batch is for you if…
You’re a complete Berg & Bush or stage race novice, or if you’ve taken a friend’s entry having last been on a bike in 2018 (this happens), or you fell in the river last night (this happens too)
For the Descent you do as we have introduced GPS mapping in 2016. The 2 Day is a great event to try and use it but its not compulsory as we have marked the route.
It’s always a good idea to have your medical aid card with you. Although signal is not always available, it is wise to take your phone with you.
Theft is not really a problem, but if it makes you feel more relaxed, then you are welcome to do so.
Registration for the Descent in 2025 will take place at Emseni Camp. Tents and rooms available for the Thursday night. Shuttles to Windmill Farm (Start) available for Friday morning before Day 1
Yes - tents and rooms available for Registration Night for both the Descent and 2 Day in 2025
The GPS files are released just before the event as we are tweaking routes and want them to be perfect! They are sent via newsletter to those entered.
